Tinashe live at Webster Hall
Tinashe is no stranger to the music industry, but she may be high on the list of new and emerging artists to watch in 2016. The California grown, Kentucky born, singer has already spent a fair share of her time in the spotlight; receiving modest notoriety acting, dancing, and modeling (among other things). It wasn’t until 2007 that she officially expanded her resume to include singing–staring as one of the young members in Vitamin C’s all girl group The Stunners. By 2011, the group had parted ways, affording Tinashe the opportunity to pursue her solo career. In the years that followed, she released a slew of singles independently until finally signing with RCA Records in 2012 (subsequently releasing her freshman album “Aquarius” with the label in 2014).
It wasn’t until 2015 that all of Tinashe’s hard work began to finally pay off. She spent most of the year working with the likes of Usher, Iggy Azalea, Chris Brown, Charli XCX, Chance the Rapper, and Ty Dolla $ign—moreover, touring with famed artists Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj. At age 23 Tinashe has already made enormous strides and embed herself as a notable R&B artist (if not the next superstar of the genre).
In 2016, Tinashe set out on her Joyride World Tour—stopping by New York City’s Webster Hall this past weekend—in support of her sophomore album “Joyride” which is set to release this year on RCA/Sony. Tinashe’s live performance is nothing short of amazing. Pooling together her incredible talents onstage, Tinashe adds a level of movement, sound, and charisma that is (combined) untouchable. She creates an inspiring and unique energy that transfers back and forth between her and her audience. It’s truly something special to see Tinashe live, and there’s no doubt that she will continue to wow fans (and newcomers alike) through the rest of 2016 (and beyond).
