LANY (pronounced Lay-Nee, and a more formal acronym of Las Angeles to New York), stopped by New York City on Tuesday night in support of Troye Sivan on his “Blue Neighbourhood” tour and in support of their debut EP “Make Out” (Polydor Records). The trio, who features the talents of Les Priest, Jake Goss, and Paul Klein, hail from L.A. (although they originally met and formed the framework of their sound in Nashville); making their short, two night, residency at Webster Hall a perfect mashup of the band’s namesake.

Their rise to success came by way SoundCloud, and their sound is what keeps them relevant and rising across a growing number of media platforms. Although the band has been relatively shy about defining their music, they do pride themselves on having both melodies and lyrics that are, simply, not being produced by anyone else in the music industry right now. Despite this, others have defined LANY as a smooth combination of alternative, electric, pop, and R&B.

In concert, LANY effortlessly takes a room full of eager fans and soothes their roars and cries with hits like “ILYSB” and “Bad, Bad, Bad”; bringing with them a level of humbleness and gratefulness that could make anyone fall in love with them. On stage, they play like a group of veterans who effortlessly pander to each other and their audience alike.
